Youkai — Nurarihyon 01

This grandpa’s head is much scar­ier than any youkai.

Jun Fukuyama takes the lead of Rikuo, both human and youkai. Some­thing I’m very happy about :) being a Jun fan after all :)   One thing I found quite funny was that Jun played another char­ac­ter named Rikuo in Eve no Jikan. Fans of Code Geass may recog­nize Youkai Rikuo as Lelouch’s voice, and for human Rikuo, it kinda just sounds like a younger Wata­nuki (xxxHolic) I guess. I don’t know~ his voice doesn’t remind me of any­one in particular.

Mov­ing on from Jun’s voic~ The story fol­lows a boy named Rikuo who is part youkai and part human. Despite his nor­mal appear­ance, Rikuo com­mu­nic­ates with many youkai and is quite friendly with them. He’s not scared of them in the slight­est. He’s only scared by Gyuki, the scary creepy guy. Although he inter­acts with the youkai and is part youkai him­self, Rikuo wants to live his life as a nor­mal boy.

My favor­ite of the bunch is most def­in­itely Yuki-onna <3 I love her and her char­ac­ter design :)

Over­all, this was a very good epis­ode, it made me smile and laugh :) The hil­ari­ous part being when Rikuo was try­ing to keep his friends away from the all the youkai lurk­ing in the old school building. I’m def­in­itely look­ing for­ward to future episodes.

I have been quite busy with sum­mer home­work, play­ing LaT­ale, hav­ing guests come over, and have been a bit sick so I wasn’t able to post this earlier.  Everything should go back to nor­mal after this hec­tic week is over )

    The anime doesn’t look that dif­fer­ent from the manga. It still has that ‘feel’ to it.

    I’ll bet you it’ll split open and reveal many tiny youkai hid­ing inside as a final weapon or something.

    Not that I have any idea where that came from :P

    I didn’t get exactly scared by the grandpa… but I still find him too dis­turb­ing and fugly X_O GET HIM OUT OF MY SHOW!
