When you just can’t not smile

A short note on Yokuwakaru Gendaimahou and Asura Cryin’

Yokuwakaru Gendaimahou: Cute Koyomi is cute

If you were reading Anime² long enough, you probably remember my lolwut-posts about Asura Cryin’. Yes, that was a show I couldn’t take seriously, I watched it for the lulz of it with a bright smile on my face. Now I have a beard. And the smile resides in it while I’m watching Yokuwakaru Gendaimahou.

Comparing the two shows by this factor I’d say Yokuwakaru Gendaimahou is better, because besides the clumsiness of the anime itself, there is also intended humour, and not bad one I’d add.

Yokuwakaru Gendaimahou: Pantsu, tentacles, lulz

When watching it you can’t help but notice rather adult insinuations, e.g. in episode 3 it was very near to a tentacleful scene, not to mention the whole pantsu bauble. I mean, they’re magicians who can make swords appear out of nowhere, and they can’t summon something that simple, prefering to hunt some mutated insects? Logic epic win.

Eh. Yokuwakaru Gendaimahou’s tub dropping gag got old for me after a few episodes, even if was meant to be stereotypical.

Come to think of it, Asura Cryin’s artwork was too horrendous for me to crack a smile…

Maybe I’m just a pessimistic person.

Maybe. I don’t know whether it’s for better or for worse, but I still laugh on those jokes. It could be because of their poorness, you know, like, ‘it’s so bad that it’s already good.’
