Staying Home This Summer?

If you’re like me, you’ll be mostly at home, not doing much. The spring anime is coming  to a close with animes ending left and right~ but for all you lazy people (including myself) the summer anime is about to begin soon in which we will continue to entertain ourselves with.

Yes, this is another of those anime season previews that you see around. But the difference here is that you get to hear our thoughts ;) and also some extra information too :) So, real quick: The list below is not the complete list of all the anime coming out. Shows such as Digimon and Osaka Hamlet are excluded. The anime is listed in order of airing date. At the bottom of the post will be a few links that you might want to check out as they contain information such as show times :)

Now! Let’s begin!!!! Hosted by Llora-chan :)

Kuroshitsuji II

July 1st- A-1 Pictures has decided to create an anime original sequel to Kuroshitsuji. I never saw the firs one so I have no intention of watching this~ although, Nana Mizuki is tempting me to~ Seeing as this season is anime original it should be fine to watch on its own, right?  The ED will be done by Yuuya Matsushita who did the first ED for Durarara!!

Eugen: –

Ammy: Didn’t watch the first one so no.

The Legend of the Legendary Heroes

July 1st- In a far away land, Jun Fukuyama lends his voice to a young lad. Yes, I’m watching this. Besides Jun, there are other seiyuus that I love (but not as much as him) such as Daisuke Ono, Miyuki Sawashiro, and Tomokazu Sugita. ZEXCS is adapting the light novel into 26 episodes. Along with Ookami-san, I am looking forward to this one. :)

Eugen: Typical RPG, do not want.

Ammy: Maybe. Despite the redundancy in its title, I haven’t really watched a fantasy in a while and it looks a bit interesting.

Amagami SS

July 1st- A romance game is getting an adaption by AIC: 13 episodes with romance and drama.  Rina Satou, Shizuka Itou, and Yukana are voicing three of the girls. As Eugen says, it is reminiscent of Hatsukoi Limited and that turns me away~ I’ll wait for a few episodes to come out before trying it or not.

Eugen: THIS could be interesting. Reminds me of Hatsukoi Limited anyhow, and that’s a good thing.

Ammy: Sure. I’m always in the mood for a romance drama. Hopefully it doesn’t disappoint.

Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi

July 1st- The second show that I am most looking forward to :) For 13 episodes, JC Staff is adapting the light novels.  Many well-known seiyuus are taking part in this comedy: Kanae Itou (Amu from Shugo Chara), Miyu Irino, Shizuka Itou, Aki Toyosaki (Yui from K-ON), Rie Kugimiya (Shana and tsunderes), and Yui Horie. The OP will be done by May’n.

Eugen: The plot preview seems like Amelié/2. But I doubt they will be able to reach even a 1/1000 of the film’s awesomeness.

Ammy: YES…can I say the reason I want to watch it is because of the Taiga look alike? No? I want to watch it for the quirky characters and the comedy? Alright.

Mitsudomoe

July 2nd- Ew. Don’t want to see this~ But for those who do, Bridge is adapting a manga about 3 little girls and, as Ammy puts it, ruin a teacher’s life. Haruka Tomatsu, Aki Toyosaki, Chiwa Saito, Minori Chihara, and Kikuko Inoue are some of the seiyuus here. It’s a pretty nice cast but that doesn’t even sway me.

Eugen: Cute is cute and I melt at it too, but I put Hanamaru Kindergarten on-hold three months ago and didn’t remember about it until right now. And I still won’t continue to watch it.

Ammy: No. I don’t want to watch little girls ruin that poor teacher’s life.

Shufuku no Campanella

July 2nd - Yuko Goto has a role in this game adaption by AIC. The ecchi factor of this turns me away as I derive no pleasure from that. I do like the fact that Miyuki Hashimoto is doing the ED but it is not enough to make me watch it. From the last I can remember, Miyuki Hashimoto did the OP for Akane-iro no Somaru Saka.

Eugen: The preview hints on time travel so I give it a no, for the first time. Sorry but after reading a few books on the theory of time travel, I cannot accept the ‘simple’ time travel anymore. Noobs, learn2wormhole

Ammy: A story about a daughter being reunited with her long lost father?! Wait, automation? No thank you.

Seitokai Yakuindomo

July 3rd- I have high hopes for this anime. This comedy is being adapted from a 4-koma to an anime with 13 episodes by GoHands. If I remember correctly, GoHands also was in charge of Princess Lover (I’m just bringing that up just so you know of the studio’s other works, not for any bad intent). K-On’s Yoko Hikasa is also playing a part in this anime as well along with Emiri Katou and Yu Kobayashi.

Eugen: Maybe it will be good. The preview doesn’t say much except that it’s meant to be funny.

Ammy: No. That’s all I’m going to say.

Sekirei: Pure Engagement

July 4th - Ew. Erect nipples~ This is the sequel to the ecchi Sekirei by Seven Arcs which is slated for 14 episodes. Marina Inoue, Jun Fukuyama, Kana Hanazawa, and Yukana all have a role here. And I know Jun is one of the seiyuus but (surprising enough) I will still not watch this either way.

Eugen: –

Ammy: Didn’t watch the first, so no.

Highschool of the Dead

July 5th- Adapted from the manga is an anime with horror and action as a group of students have to protect themselves from zombies! One thing that I did love after seeing the trailer was the character designs that Madhouse did (although not quite fond of the fact that all the girls have huge knockers). Seiyuus such as Marina Inoue, Eri Kitamura, Mamoru Miyano, and Miyuki Sawashiro are taking a part. This really isn’t my type of anime: Horror, Zombies, Huge Breasts, Blood, Fanservice, Horror~ yeah, not my thing~

Eugen: Hmm. I have totally seen that storyline somewhere else before, and not once. It *could* be interesting though, it depends on the realisation.

Ammy: Zombie? Er, no thank you. The girls with huge tits are a bit of a turnoff as well.

Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin

July 5th- Another one for the Anime no Chikara project. The trailers A-1 Pictures put out haven’t been entirely helpful as this is supposed to be a horror and comedy anime but I can only see it as being horror. Although it does look interesting I don’t think I will watch it~ I will most probably wait to see people’s opinions on it once it airs. Mio’s seiyuu Yoko Hikasa is starring and also Angel Beat’s Kana Hanazawa will be playing a role.

Eugen: I cannot judge by the plot preview on this one, not really: a horror and school comedy? So I’ll be judging by the preview image: I like it. The background is very interesting, something Victorian/steampunk, and highly detailed. The character art is well-done too, although this can’t promise good quality of art and animation in the series itself. Or even worse, good art quality with shitty animation.

Ammy: Sure. It’s an original series, and I love comedy/horror.

Nuraihyon no Mago

July 5th- JUN FUKUYAMA is definitely making me watch this show. This shounen series doesn’t just have him though (although he’s all I care about <3), Aya Hirano and Yui Horie are some other good seiyuus. The seiyuus are also singing the ED. If it weren’t for Jun I probably wouldn’t have watched this. Good choice, Studio DEEN! ;)

Eugen: It just seems so… cheap. ‘A boy must fight himself to grow up’ or something. So gainax-y.

Ammy: No. Boring.

Tono to Issho

July 5th- Gathering’s adaption on a 4-koma manga. This anime is a comedy and parody but I am not too interested in it nor do I have much to say. Sorry.

Eugen: Hmm. It has a chance to be funny, I think. Well, since I associate it with Gintama somehow.

Ammy: No. This isn’t the kind of comedy I like.

Strike Witches 2

July 7th - The girls have no pants on again in this continuation of Strike Witches from AIC. I never watched the first season so I won’t be watching this one. Besides that, the OP is being done by Yoko Ishida.  I’ve heard that the main girl has had seiyuu swtched with someone else, for what reaason I have no idea of, but it should just take a few episodes of getting used to if anything,

Eugen: –

Ammy: Didn’t watch the first one, so no.

Shiki

July 8th- The last of the horror animes coming out this summer. Daume is taking over this novel filled with horror and the supernatural and putting into a 22-episode series. Haruka Tomatsu is taking a part in this too. I won’t be watching this seeing as I wouldn’t be able to handle it. >_<

Eugen: I won’t be watching this. Not catching at all, the preview… Bizarre and inexplicable deaths are a normality in anime.

Ammy: Maybe. The story sounds interesting, but the character designs feel like a big no. Who gives these guys haircuts? Especially the blue-haired guy!

Asobi ni Iku Yo!

July 10th- The last of the light novel adaptions! I won’t be watching this and those giant boobs definitely help me say no. AIC Plus+ is taking over this adaption and having Sphere sing the OP. Haruka Tomatsu, Kana Hanazawa, Kanae Itou, and Kikuo Inoue are in this anime as well.

Eugen: Omamori Himari plagiat much.

Ammy: No. Not interesting.

Sengoku Basara Two

July 11th- The action continues in Production IG’s sequel to Sengoku Basara. The OP will be done by TM Revoluton (who also did the first OP to Soul Eater) and Paku Romi (or Pak Romi or Park Romi - whichever name you know her by)  is back again to play her role. I never saw the first season and I’m not planning to so this one is out for me as I have never been too much of a fan on historical anime.

Eugen: –

Ammy: Didn’t watch the first one, so no.

Hmmm… like I mentioned with summer previews on other Anime Blogs, not that much summer anime interests me… and I will be catching up with my backlog.

Staying Home for the Summer? The answer is no because I’m actually going to Appleton, Wisconsin next Saturday. With that, I will be away for nearly two weeks, but I will still be posting as usual.

I liked Nurari’s manga. So unless they REALLLLLLLLYYY mess the adaptation, I see no reason to not like it.

Great preview, I agree with most of what you guys have said. I’m not particularly very impressed or pleased with this season’s offerings, but I hope one or two series attempt to surprise me XD
