Twitter from the point of view of an aniblogger and how to get into it

Toradora 20: The Twitter Whale appears

Fot tweeting to become a habit, it’s not enough to just sign up: unconsicious understanding of the Idea is required. For that purpose, observing (read: following) active people is the only way. Since we’ll be considering only the aniblogosphere (or rather anitwittosphere), here’s a list of must-follow people who devoted themselves to this category:

Update: Twitter implemented an in-site list function, and here’s my full list of anibloggers (and growing): Anibloggers

These are the ones I follow and the ones I noticed to be the main part of my Twitter dashboard (at least today). Remember: If when you login to Twitter and see only your tweets it’s bad and means that it’s time to follow somebody!

Once your Twitter is full of messages, it’ll make double so much fun. Note: Although Twitter has done bullshit with the reply function (now you don’t see replies that are adressed to somebody you don’t follow), finding interesting people through it is one of the best methods.

Exploiting this post shamelessly I also may link to the two new A² authors, Llora-chan and Ammy, who recently joined Twitter. By the way, feel free to link to your Twitter accounts in the comments.

I recently joined Twitter. I had my critisim about it and I still have the same opinions using it. It’s such a crock of shit. I mean, it’s just AIM away messages on a large scale.

I follow a few people from the aniblogsphere, and their messages are just as remotely uninteresting as mine are, and when I do respond to one of their tweets there is usually no return response. I’m trying to be friendly and what not only to be left ignored.

I’ll stick with it though because everyone is using it and all, but it still doesn’t mean it’s anything worth having.

Nice list. Most of these names are new to me. Definitely agree that a big part of the attraction is being able to see some of the discussions that are going on.

No wonder I have Ammy and a few others following me. Good for you to share some of the Twitter accounts so that many of whom are your readers or those who don’t know who to follow once they registered get a head start!

I didn’t include everybody I follow, as I said only those whom I’ve seen in my TweetDeck at the moment.

umm, I see… Right now, I’m following people about 300+. It surprisingly turned me into a busy person. I have to check my twitter every second. Oh my lord..

  11. Posted June 30, 2009 at 06:23 | Permalink

I used to follow Twitter consistently…then I went past following 90 people and the number of tweets each morning I wake up to was enough to turn me off checking them. Plus TweetDeck is somehow not showing me more than 100 tweets (new ones) in a row (I usually get 150 new ones at least each time I wake up in the morning) so yeah, I miss out on a lot.

Also, you meant “devoted”, not “devoured”.

*Facepalm* Excuse me, I must lol at myself.

Ok, now. Of course there are borders of wisdom — if you’d start following everybody back, like Danny Choo, now wonder you’d miss all damn tweets. That’s why I think 60–70 people is the maximum.

I should add that I see Twitter not like something you must read through, it’s something real-time. I open TweetDeck, forget about it, and work/read/watch anime, meanwhile I get new tweets and I read them. Only the latest ones are actual anyway.

Yeah, I was gonna say the same. If I tried to follow everything like my email or even google reader, I’d go nuts. I see it like there’s conversations going on at all times, and every once in a while, I’ll drop in and either listen in or comment.
