Inuyasha: Final Act — 08 [An Ordinary Woman]

"That's enough"

“You came for me…That’s enough”

Oh gosh. That just really pulled on my heartstrings. This time she’s dead for real. When I first heard she would be dead, I was a bit happy (I was a Kikyo hater at the time). But now, it’s just so painful to watch. Kikyo is a really awesome character. Her death is even more beautiful than Kagura’s.

Kagome deserves some love as well. She really isn’t that young girl who started the series so long ago. In the previous episode, I really liked how she told the phantom Kikyo that Kikyo is actually afraid of Kagome, due to the fact Kagome has spent time with Inuyasha and has seen sides he never showed Kikyo. Kikyo and Kagome don’t hate each other. They truly respect each other. Kagome didn’t want Kikyo to die.

Back to Kikyo now. Because this is HER episode.

Even though I knew what would happen, I was still on the edge of my seat at this scene. It’s a real shame Kikyo’s plan didn’t work (duh if it worked the series would be over). It was what she wanted to accomplish before dying though.

Aw~

Aw~ Am I the only one who thought this was sweet?

Goodbye Kiss

Goodbye Kiss

This scene was really nice. Inuyasha didn’t even cry that much for Kagome. It really showed how pained he was to lose his first love. Even Kikyo haters can’t say they didn’t feel bad for Kikyo. You just have to respect her.

One thing I would like to say as well is that I like how they reanimate those flashbacks instead of recycling old footage. The art wouldn’t match well. Anyone else notice that?

Another thing, isn’t Kikyo’s soul supposed to go to Kagome. It seemed to go to heaven. Wouldn’t it go back to Kagome because she’s her reincarnation?

You can never prepare yourself for death no matter how much you think you have. The end always brings a lump to your throat.

I’m guessing you haven’t seen the Kikyo Hater clubs all over the internet.

… I’m actually surprised that they actually had Kikyo die. Maybe it’s just me or I thought she would always be there.

This reminds me of Aerith (ff7). Especially the “you came for me” line.

Hehe. Back to topic. I love Kikyo. This was really sad.

I was wondering the same thing, why didn’t Kikyo’s soul return to Kagome? I was utterly baffled by the end of this episode and a little irked. It seemed to kind of mess with the storyline, Kagome being a reincarnation of Kikyo and all. I hope that this one gets explained at some point. Since Kikyo was first reanimated, I’ve been quite eager to see Kagome’s soul become whole again (and I saw that episode in ’03 or ’04). All these years of anticipation for naught. I am disappoint. -.-*
