Some time passed since the launch of the new aniblogosphere-intern URL shortening service m0e.me, which means it survived its first phase and gained some constant users, which in following means that I can spread the word about it and be sure that that word is interesting.
So, m0e.me. In its case, not the technology behind but the very frontview is the attraction. As I said, the technology is not special: Not only there are plenty of URL shortening services and scripts, but those scripts are unbelievably simple to write at that. What I personally find is a geniously idea of its gochujin-sama Moyism is its name. It’s not the shortest domain out there, there are all those ow.ly and is.gd services, but they don’t have quite the charme (besides ow.ly perhaps, I like owls): the charme of lulz combined with the feeling ‘it’s one of us’ (which would be aniblogosphere-specific), as also the association with K-ON! and especially Mio (on whose Moe~moe~kyun scene the idea is based). And m0e.me is not longer than the nowadays popular bit.ly and much shorter than the good old tinyurl.com, so besides the charme it also does its job fine.
The service runs on the YOURLS script and has a generous API. Basically, you request m0e.me/yourls-api.php and give it the URL as a var. Practically, you open m0e.me?yourls-api.php?url=THEURLHERE and it shows you the new, short version as a plain text string.
I requested the support of the service in the very popular WordPress plugins WordTwit and SexyBookmarks, still haven’t gotten a reply from neither of both though. Currently one could use it by manually editing the plugin files, but that’s a mess, plus giving the users one more shortener option is not much of deal so I think it’s just a matter of time untill our blog posts will be tweeted moé. You could also request that though, to emphasize its significance to the plugin authors.
For those who skimmed all of the above text: Awsum thing is awsum, GOGOGO m0e.me!! :3

I think Moy is enjoying his vacation, but he knows he has work to do on the url shortening service.
Well, dunno if he’ll do it or not lol.
I wonder what clients it works it with customizable shortening services. I think Seesmic allows add/rem of services O.o
Hmmmm.… lol, I don’t tweet but still might use it for moe linkage. Kinda like identifying that the URL beyond the moe link… is possibly moe.
