You probably noticed that today, almost the entire day, the Durarara chat was down. The reason for this is that somebody posted the link to it in the Steam Dollars group: But that wasn’t the actual crime, since the actual reason for the little apocalypse chose the name Sasako. They started, and others followed, to spam the beautiful chat with unbelievable stubborness that has to be mentioned. After around 2000 messages, the server stopped functioning. And today morning, as I saw this (it all was happening while I was asleep) I took the chat down to prevent further crimes on the poor script and to upgrade it with equivalently unbelievale powers.
Now it is upgraded and back up, and it wouldn’t be possible without Ryan A who practically coded everything today. My new weapon is banning IPs, and since it does track the IPs now, I could even report spammers to their ISPs… So, spammers, watch out.
The other thing is that the performance was improved, as the logs are not stored hardcoded anymore, but as JSON arrays, which allows more dynamical functionality.
So, let’s have fun again! And who will dare to go againt me once more will feel the wrath the Lich King didn’t even dream about. ♥

Banning IPs?!?! D:
To be honest, I think it was inevitable that people would spam it with nonsense, and I think, since there doesn’t seem to be any “rules” on this Dollars Chat, that they should be allowed to post/spam whatever they want. Unless there really are rules and I’m just not seeing it.

I’m not sure… But shouldn’t a chat not have password? But maybe an account may be useful.
I’m not complaining. But the chat function is better to have only an account with a unique chat name with a unique email address. That way, you can lessen the burden of spam. The program can also have limits on how many times can you chat like 1 message per 3 seconds. Well, but perhaps it is still just being implemented because the chat looks like it’s still in the beta phase. There are many possible ways to decrease spam.
