I already thought I’m going to have the break I wanted so much, when this must-repost matter came up.

This one is my own. And Niya is her name.
At first I was ignorant — well, if you danboorued a picture for your post header, and there’s no source stated, you don’t need (you can’t actually) credit the artist. But then Wah, Jpmeyer, Hinano and a bunch of other people changed my mind. They awakened my own rage by appealing to my own artist feelings. ‘An artwork without context, alone in this cold wide world, separated from its only creator’… Now I spread the word, as following:
If you want post-headers so much, look for them on Pixiv and link back the artist. Danbooru and other anonymous image boards are evil.

I, for one, completely agree.
You know, there’s actually a group of Japanese web artists banding together against this sort of thing. Maybe one day I’ll dig up the link again and rant about it too. lol
Too bad my bro doesn’t always follow this “rule” of mine…

O.o if that’s the case, then I won’t be able to place images from there into my blog anymore. This despite them stealing my vector art as well (without credit, mind you).
Bikini Asuka and Casual Asuka.
Can magazine scans (or somewhere along the lines) be considered stealing?

Well…they’re magazine scans. Not much crediting you can do there. Unless you know which magazine it was and/or the alias of the artist.
Also, with regards to my first comment, I didn’t notice Wah had put up the link already in his post. >.<

Well, in regards to that, then it’s still possible. Okay, got it. Next time: credit before use.

>Danbooru and other anonymous image boards are evil.
Not sure if this was sarcasm, but I’d like to disagree. The people actually in charge of danbooru and those who keep it organized try very hard to source every image they can. They are far from evil.
…
Don’t give up on Danbooru just yet, the Artist’s page is usually in the “Source:”…and the name in the tag in red.

There’s no reason to badmouth danbooru since those guys go crazy trying to source every image.
As I keep saying (and people clearly aren’t reading) that I personally don’t think the imageboard environment is bad as it fosters discussion specifically on the piece of art at hand.
Anime blogs, on the other hand…
I disagree 100%. Well, 95% or so.
I’ve written more than a few guides for various MMOs that I’ve now quit and forgot about until this post came up. As an ex-guide writer, I didn’t care if people plagiarized my guides. As long as people got the info., I didn’t care what happened to my guides.
Likewise, as a blogger, I don’t care if people quote me without saying that I said it. It’s kind of weird seeing some of the stuff I’ve typed on ~five forums, three blogs of mine, and various other places show up in odd places, but I like the fact that people are using my words to make a point, pretend to be as smart as me, etc. instead of raging over the fact that I wasn’t properly credited.
And finally, I link these feelings back to art. Though it may take quite a bit of time to draw a piece of artwork, the important thing is to get it out there and have people admire it, not to lengthen your e-peen by having people link back to/credit you. I know this might be a horrible analogy, but I’ve actually seen some of my MS Paint creations in the weirdest places, and I don’t care, as long as people are laughing at how stupid/awesome they are.

I heavily prefer pixiv, but I also don’t regard danboorus that “evil”. Perhaps they had their own faults in proper citing the sources but I think if these artists would want some credits of their own, which is arbitrary for some, they could always add some watermark or texts at the lowest part of their works.
I’ve just started practicing citing the artists of the image from pixiv that I’ve started the habit of naming the image “xxx. jpg by ___” when downloading them.
I’m also planning to make an entry parallel to this, although it involves content stealing and not images.

To reply to everbody who protected Danbooru, it was sarcasm. Hinano and Jpmeyer turned me on their side so I volunteered to spread the word and repost the message, but the line about Danbooru was pure troll on their ‘Image boards can go die in a fire’.
And I repeat, I don’t care about this as much as others do.
Great blog! I am loving it!! Will be back later to read some more. I am bookmarking your feeds also
