Do you read..? The widget for WordPress

It started with Rabbitpoet’s assumption. It continued with CCY-senpai’s replies. And it ended with me. Here you go: A ready-to-go widget plugin for WordPress, which has the not-my-idea powers to display a link with a cynic annotation from you from your links list in your blog’s sidebar. It’s easy to install, easy to set up, it’s not so easy to write a one-liner about a blog though.

To do proper crediting, the idea, and the basic ‘code idea’ how I call it, come from CCY. I merely recoded it for WP link management support, plugin/widget-ness as well as automated some code variables.

Issues I hadn’t checked but am sure exist are: WP Super Cache, and to generalize, every caching plugin, will kill the ‘random’ part. Sure, on different pages you’ll have different blogs linked, but the pager-refreshing thing will vanish.

After you’ve now read through three paragraphs which could have been compressed to one line, you are finally ready to download the thing and try it out. After trying it out, tell me.

This is a free plugin. And this is a great plugin. As everything Eugen creates for you. If you want to thank him for his work and encourage him to do more, he’s accepting donations: and you decide, how much money you want to send him.

Worked like a charm for me, although I haven’t done any heavy duty testing with it yet, as I turned it off until I had descriptions for all the links… but like you mentioned, writing these “witty” one-liners is damn tough.

Sometimes ideas on them might come in strangest places though! E.g., my one-liner for We Remember Love, namely ‘A /m/an of word’, came to me while I was in a train heading school. Not sure if that one’s witty but I think that’s the best I got so far.

I’m looking forward to seeing the widget working! :3
