Dear Diary — er…Journal,
Otonashi, not Kyon, here speaking. Well, here’s some news for you.
I’m dead apparently. I woke up on the floor to see some girl, not Haruhi, aiming her gun at another girl. She told me I’m dead, and this was the afterlife.
Like hell I’m dead. I stood up and went over to the girl she was aiming at. Bad idea.
After being stabbed in the heart, I get ‘killed’ again for ‘disgracing Yurippe’ or something. Okay, what? I then went to go find a responsible adult somewhere in this place. I got the principal’s office and… Well, Just look to the picture below.
…
What. The. Hell? So I’m just supposed to accept the laws of anime that this should all be normal? You know what? Fine. I’ll just accept this and move on.
So I end up joining the Afterlife Battlefront. Hey, it’ll buy time to regain those memories I lost. Memory loss for the main character is totally not uncommon, and knowing Key, my past will probably be either messed up, involve breaking little girls hearts, or both.
I also learned about NPC, or non-player characters. They’re just…there. Serving no apparent importance in the story just to make the school more school-like. Well, if I go and do what they do, I’m going to disappear and turn into a barnacle. Again, what?
I was went on my first operation. I’m supposed to go and shoot Tenshi, our enemy, at her legs. I failed of course. Don’t worry, others came to my rescue before she could ‘kill’ me again. Did I mention that we had an all-girl-band distract the NPC during the operation? Why exactly do we have to distract them? Are they going to interfere or something? Or did they just want to show off in the first episode the band?

My Thoughts
The episode was pretty good. Of course, it’s the pilot, so it’s not supposed to be spectacular. You can really tell that their trying to aim for KyoAni fans with this series. Otonashi and Yuri just scream Haruhi and Kyon to me. The plot is interesting enough though. I can already sense that Tenshi isn’t as evil as they make her out to be. I’m interested to seeing those tear-jerking episodes that will eventually come up. I’m hoping we’ll get more focus on the other Afterlife Battlefront members as well. Otherwise, they’re just…there. Also, I liked the way there presented the next episode preview. Haven’t seen something like that before. I’m going to continue watching this series and see where is goes. P.S. I would think that the pilot is the episode that needs to be the most spectacular. To grab the viewer.

I’m actually hoping there won’t be a lot of tear-jerking moments. Not that I don’t want any but seems like AB!‘s forte will revolve around the battlefield
where all the pretty violent effects are.Anyway, it certainly was impressive and looking forward to the next episode as well.
I loved your post XD
Haruhi and Kyon can’t get out of my head –_–
