Kyou/Ryou

Dear God, Ryou creeps me out, and I thought she was okay before play­ing this route. There is this part where she’s just look­ing at Tomoya, breath­ing as dia­logue remained as ellipses. She becomes pretty force­ful and quite clingy, annoy­ing the hell out of me. Though, I think I was even more annoyed when I had Tomoya chose Ryou instead. How long will it take for her to just spit it out? Ryou in any other route is pretty cute and okay, but I didn’t like her at all in her own.

Kyou, I liked her bet­ter in the visual novel. Here’s the part where I com­plain and com­pare it to the OVA. In the OVA, we get all these des­pond­ent and mel­an­cholic Kyou scenes. Um, hello? In the VN, she’s pretty good at con­ceal­ing how hurt she feels. KyoAni seemed to have made her more openly depressed. In the VN, she saw Tomoya and Ryou kiss­ing at school, caus­ing her to run off cam­pus and cry in the rain. In the OVA, Tomoya runs into her after a date with Ryou, see­ing her just being depressed. What? Is this imply­ing Kyou ran­domly stands in the rain to sulk every once in a while? I do admit that the rain scene was much pret­tier in the anime, as in the visual novel it felt more quiet. In the anime, we have Kyou try­ing to push Tomoya away in tears. The OVA was actu­ally much pret­tier than the VN in gen­eral. I do wish KyoAni included the part where Ryou sees Tomoya all wet, hug­ging him without say­ing anything.

The route itself was pretty inter­est­ing, drag­ging on a bit with how Kyou and Tomoya don’t want to con­fess their feelings.

Kappei

IT’S A TRAP.

Why couldn’t they squeeze Kappei into the anime? A cameo would have worked, you know. Kappei’s route was a pretty funny one, him being a trap and Sun­o­hara Ho Yay included. Didn’t really need to see Tomoya ima­gin­ing Sunohara/Kappei rape though. It was pretty obvi­ous Kappei had can­cer though, with the pill and hos­pital hints. Well, at least they didn’t pull it out of nowhere. Kappei was a fun char­ac­ter to inter­act with and I’m glad Ryou was able to end up with him instead.
