CANAAN — 05

KA-CHOW?!

An epis­ode that gave me some sur­prises and not-so surprises.

Sum­mary:

“Hey, that chick has a nice butt.”

We see Canaan stum­bling on the streets. She remem­bers her encounter with Alphard and begins to vomit (ew~).

Mean­while, Maria is at Yunyun’s house­boat. We learn Yun­yun lives alone and is a migrant worker. Yun­yun has to leave for her part-time job, but Maria doesn’t want to leave. Yuyun gives Maria a key before leaving.

But sur­prise, sur­prise! Yun­yun works for Liang Qi! (I knew she was sus­pi­cious!) Liang Qi assigns Yun­yun to infect a vice-minister with the UA virus. She freaks out, afraid of being killed by Canaan. How­ever, Liang Qi doesn’t give a care if Yun­yun dies.

*le gasp*

Rejec­ted!

Yun­yun then gets a job at that place Maria and Mino went to in epis­ode 3. The vice-minister comes and Yun­yun tries to spike it drink. How­ever, he rejects her drink because he prefers Hakko’s big­ger boobs. Yun­yun the leaves the room to try to stuff her chest with buns (lol).

Keep try­ing, darling

But sur­prise, sur­prise (again), Maria and Mino enter. Yun­yun starts freak­ing out and quietly escapes without Maria know­ing. Yun­yun then runs into our favor­ite badass, Canaan. Yun­yun freaks out again. She attempts to shoot Canaan, but she doesn’t know how to use a gun. Canaan actu­ally helps her with shoot­ing (lol). Canaan ends up tak­ing the gun from her, threat­en­ing Yun­yun to tell her about Alphard. Yun­yun knows noth­ing however.

Then Maria appears and pro­tects Yun­yun, beg­ging Canaan not to kill her.

Canaan is shocked. She then feels sad because Maria sees her as a mur­derer. Canaan leaves, and Maria feels hor­rible because she hurt Canaan’s feelings.

While this is going on, Yun­yun gets a call from Liang Qi. She tells Liang Qi that Canaan got away. Liang Qi then instructs her to use Maria to kill Canaan.

Yun­yun drags Maria to the top of the bridge. She calls out for Canaan, say­ing that she has ‘her pre­cious Maria’. Maria begs to dif­fer, say­ing that she is not pre­cious to Canaan. Yun­yun is sure Canaan will come because Maria’s life is in danger. How so? Yun­yun reveals…

SHE HAS FRICKING DYNAMITE ON HER!

OH SH*T! (her reac­tion being the same as mine)

Of course, Canaan comes to the res­cue. Canaan and Yun­yun have a not-so epic mind-blowing fight. As Yun­yun began to slip and fall, Canaan reaches out for her. Yun­yun and Canaan then both fall off the bridge into the water. Canaan begins beat­ing Yun­yun under­wa­ter, but remem­bers Maria beg­ging for Canaan to not kill Yun­yun. In the end, Canaan drags Yun­yun out of the water, both very much alive. Maria is relieved.

Mean­while, we see that Cum­mings infects the vice-minister successfully.

“Didn’t you only like big boobs?”

Later that even­ing, Mino enters the hotel room. He sees a half-naked Yun­yun and prac­tic­ally jumps her. Maria pro­tects Yun­yun, ask­ing what the heck he was doing. He then points out that she has the mark on her butt.

Yun­yun explains that you get that mark when you become a Borner. It has to do with her now-gone vil­lage. Mino asks her what abil­ity she has. Yun­yun admits she just has two appendixes. There­fore, she has no abil­ity and feels she is use­less. Maria dis­agrees and points out all of Yunyun’s good qual­it­ies. They also prom­ise to help her run away from Liang Qi’s control.

How­ever, we over­hear Liang Qi stat­ing that if Yun­yun runs away, she won’t have access to the medi­cine and will die.

Thoughts

Very nice epis­ode. The Borners thing is explained a bit more. They also men­tioned med­ic­a­tion for being one. Now we under­stand why we saw those guys die in the first epis­ode. It’s a shame Yun­yun will prob­ably die. Unless by the twist of fate, she lives! (Yes, Yun­yun has grown on me a bit dur­ing this epis­ode and I’d feel bad to call her ‘stalker girl’ now). Now to see how this all turns out. Look­ing for­ward to next episode.
