Because Aizen and me both seem to equally like Bakemonogatari (and because I wanted to make a first-impressions post but was too late) we decided to team blog the series. Maybe not always though.
After the second arc of Bakemonogatari I still hold to everything I said and thought about it — great that is. I can’t find a bad thing to point at. Merely, what should be spoken with a rather confused smile: What’s up with all the f***ing staplers (Unknowing strangers don’t know how right I am forming it like that)? To me, the staplers were funny.
SHIT, HAVEN’T YOU EVER WATCHED SOMETHING CALLED PORN?!
No matter how I look at it, despite Hitagi’s nudity during half the time, I can’t call it fan service. Fan service is when a female character shows herself in a suggestive and attractive way to us — Hitagi was naked because of the fact she weights 5kg and clothes are simply too heavy for her; it’s more like a part of the story. A nice part. The talkative plot line is OK and also the fanservice Hitagi displays (screw you for not calling it fanservice :>). But what really disturbs me is that she said “STDs from hookers are contagious.” Now, this is either saying that Araragi is considered a hooker OR that she’s the hooker. As I’m an imaginative fuck, I say she’s saying she’s saying she’s the hooker. In other words, she might have really screwed a bunch of guys trying to cure her problem ;..; Plus the fact that mistrust is all over her mind.
The “dumb” accusations are starting now…
Call me slow if you want but I’ll say that the voice actor (seiyuu, I believe) of Araragi sounded really familiar to a many other Anime I’ve seen. It was by “Hiroshi Kamiya” or something like that. Well, the sad thing was that I haven’t seen a lot of Anime with that seiyuu — except Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei. And I really doubt that that hypochondriac sounded like Araragi. Well, maybe he does a little whenever he whines.
I’ll try and believe that she didn’t lose her virginity — as she wasn’t raped by that dude from that cult her mother joined. Seriously though, this was mostly an ‘all talk’ episode. Really little to no action. But I thought it was a happy ending as everyone got what they wanted and was happy. Literally, when Hitagi and the two other guys were in the shrine, I thought a gangrape was going to start. Plus there was alcohol — which could have had some drugs in it. But eh, it didn’t. Anyways, Hitagi’s past was pretty crappy but all was well after she asked the crab to return her bloody feelings for her. I guess she wasn’t raped after all, but even an attempt is already a scar for life and the explanation of her mistrust paranoia.
Little action and much talking is not always bad. Spice and Wolf, which I may call my all-time favourite, was built almost entirely on dialogues — well, and Horo. Anyway, action aside, as object of entertainment this episode was excellent. An interesting storyline itself, and a sad and moving mini-story. At last but not least, the yandere became a friendly, smiling girl again — in one episode (!). I praise that change, and that didn’t take half a series as in other anime. Bye bye yandere ;(
So I’ll assume that Hitagi isn’t the main character. And if she is, she might as well be the girlfriend of Araragi. I mean seriously, she’s hot and Araragi’s the main character. It would be perfect. But as Bakemonogatari doesn’t seem like a romance Anime, I doubt anything like that will happen. What I want to see more of is, actually, Araragi’s two sisters. They’re pretty hot and cute if you ask me :3 Here I completely agree with Aizen. Ironically, I once drew an artwork with exactly the same setting — a girl waking up her onii-chan. (That artwork was my birthday present for tflops by the way).
How I mentioned on Twitter, I think that Bakemonogatari is most probably this season’s best show, my favourite, and definitely exceeds Eden of the East. I wouldn’t know or compare as I don’t watch too much Anime now’a-days. But if it can keep me entertained, I like it.
BROWN IS AIZEN, NOT GARGRON (+ the screen captions)

The alternating color text within the same paragraphs is an interesting way of doing a review.
I wonder if the Kannagi backlash made the writers here hesitant to go the entire way in her backstory.
Lol, more screentime for his sisters would be awesome. Bakemonogatari is definitely very intriguing as it leaves you wondering about many things, I’d consider it on par with Eden of the East. I still have mixed opinions on where it’s going though =S

You didn’t get the STD thing. Hitagi was implying that Araragi could have had sex only with a hooker. That’s why she said “Please don’t spit. STDs are contagious”
The image of the imoutos just one split second before that one is even better. Their bangs lift up and you can see their foreheads. They give Ritsu a run for her money /swoon
@Seinime Same. But I would never compare it with any Anime unless it’s about the plot.
Thanks for the information!
@Son Gohan Oh shit, I’m slow
@Diss You mean this?
