A Monkey’s Hand IS A Mummy’s Hand IS A Devil’s Hand

And it sucks your life away! From Below!

So I just started to continue watching Bakemonogatari and well, it’s been a little interesting. A monkey’s hand used to make wishes is obviously a mummy’s hand — what else do you call body parts which are wrapped up with special paper? But what I didn’t really think about was that such hands were made by a Devil. It makes a lot of sense as it comes with the law of equality; for three wishes, your soul will be devoured. Similarly, think about genies: Are they really devils too? I mean hell, they also give you three wishes. They have to take something in return.

Bakemonogatari is sort of education yet not. What I would like to see more of is Senjougahara being a Tsundere and less of a Yandere. Of course I could jump to the latest episode and find out what happens or read other people’s blog and figure it out, but that would take away a lot of fun.

For genies, their three wishes always leave people wanting after casting. e.g. Wish to be the king of the country, after it is granted you want to rule the world. etc etc/

In a way, it gives you three wishes in exchange for your freedom since you’ll be constantly trapped in hindsight over what you should have wished for. This freedom that is taken in return frees the genie.
